Flowers, mementos, and cemetery vases from several hundred graves have been picked up and smashed in the Atawhai cemetery this week. The affected graves are cremation plots on the flat section adjacent to Atawhai Drive.

One pile of grave decorations was placed near vegetation on one side of the cemetery, while another grave had items from elsewhere dumped on it.

Fuel or oil is leaking or being dumped in Richmond and getting into the waterway that runs alongside Beach Rd. At 5.15 pm on Sunday the 2nd of September, long after it had stopped raining, you could smell it from the cycleway - that's how bad it was / is!
