Elections

Karen from Richmond

Hi all , Has anyone else noticed the mega push behind Tim King for Mayor from the powers that be ? Have just read the article in the Waimea Weekly by Steve Page, could have been written by Mr King himself . Definitely very biased against Dean McNamara , could it be he keeps the ratepayer to informed . Whoever you vote for choose wisely, remember who has the regions best interests and definitely vote . Cheers Karen

Amy Ridout Reporter from The Nelson Mail

There's been a rise in the number of shoes slung over power lines in Washington Valley, and other Nelson streets. Have you spotted any on your street?

Queen Charlotte bike ride

Sergey from Nelson South

Anyone with an eMTB (electric mountain-bike) want to do the Queen Charlotte Trail before December 1st?

The plan is falling into place!
Friday 29 Nov – Drive to Picton and stay in cheap backpackers or other suitable accommodation.

Saturday 30 Nov – Take an early ferry (or water taxi) to Ship Cove and Bike to Portage – 50K

We’ve rented a cool place through Book a Bach that sleeps 4. There’s only two beds but there is space on the couch or floor for a reduced rate. 🙂

Sunday Dec 1 – Bike to Picton: 20K to Anakiwa (on QC Trail) and 20K (on road)

Drive back to Nelson in the afternoon

There is an opportunity to do a little more trail riding on the way from Anakiwa to Picton, depending on how much energy everyone has.

Collect a bag of rubbish - and you could win prizes!

Resene

Too often we think that picking up litter is someone else’s job - but collecting rubbish is such a simple way we can help our community, the environment and our own health and wellbeing.

This is why Resene is proud to sponsor the “Walk & Collect Weekend” on December 7 and 8. Take a walk over the weekend and collect a bag of rubbish in your community - it's simple but with a collective effort can make a big difference.

It's free to participate and there are prizes to be won - including a $200 Resene Gift Card! Simply head to their event page and register your interest.
