Is the donations scheme fair?

Katy Jones Reporter from The Nelson Mail

Do you have a child at a high decile school that can't opt into the Government's donations scheme, effective next year? Some decile 8-10 schools say their communities are no wealthier than those at neighbouring lower decile schools, and they should be allowed to sign up to the programme too. What do you think?

Brook Valley Derelict Prefabs

Justine from The Brook

On the 14th November Rosie Barlett, Manager of Parks & Facilities, Nelson City Council wrote the following in response to my queries:

"The Sanctuary has not exercised the right of renewal for the lease where the prefabs sit so this has now expired. Council has given the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary until 31 December 2019 to remove the buildings."

As you can see from the photo I took this morning they are still there! And there is no indication that they are being readied for removal at all! What is going on?

Skara Bohny Reporter from The Nelson Mail

The estimated cost for concreting the base of the Modellers Pond has gone up again - this time to over $3.5 million.

Stolen Jacket

KEN from Marybank

There were several vehicle break-ins in Marybank/Atawhai overnight Monday/Tuesday (9/10th December). Stolen from Wastney Terrace was a very distinctive "Hoodlam/Sea Shepherd" jacket made especially for Sea Shepherd crew members. It is probably the only one on the South Island and also has a sentimental value. I attach the following photos. If seen being worn please contact the Police or if found telephone 5451103. Thanks.
