Māpua planter boxes: what's your view?

Planter boxes installed in the settlement of Māpua have raised the ire of the community. The boxes are part of a Streets for People pilot project aimed at finding low cost ways to make streets safer for people walking and cycling.
But, commentary on the Tasman District Council’s Facebook post about the 18 boxes ranged from those worried about the loss of parking spaces for local businesses to accusations of the traffic calming measure being part of the “2030 agenda” in which individuals will “own nothing”.
