Hero worship

Stu Hunt Reporter from The Nelson Mail

Have you ever met your hero? I'm a big fan of Don McGlashan. I went to a gig in Melbourne where he was playing with the Muttonbirds. Somehow I managed to get to talk to him, he told me about how much he took scathing critiques to heart. I went to the next night's gig as well, I'm sure he thought I was stalking him. Have you met and spoken to someone you've idolised - rock, movie or sports star. Did they measure up to your expectations. Or maybe they were a crushing disappointment. We've love to hear about it.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
