We need to talk about loneliness, Nelson

The Team

Modern life is making us lonely and it is something New Zealand needs to talk about. An ageing population, more people living alone and the demands of modern life mean more of us - and not just the elderly - are feeling lonely.

Stuff launched a series that aims to raise awareness about one of the biggest issues facing New Zealand - social isolation. Loneliness is a condition that touches everyone in different parts of their lives and has a huge effect on people's mental and physical health.

This series also aims to make a difference by providing people with ideas about how they can connect. We also want to challenge people to reach out to the socially isolated. This will help build happier, more resilient connected and healthier communities. Have a look here.
