Free CPR/AED/Personal Safety Workshops Coming Up
A reminder that the Motueka and Districts Neighbourhood Support group is organizing training workshops on Crime Prevention/Personal Safety, CPR and the operation of an AED machine, Civil Defence Get Thru and welfare aspects after a fire, and a discussion on what to do in a house fire/rural fire prevention.
The times and venues are as follows:
Tuesday 28 May @6.30pm Senior Citizens Hall Motueka ( behind Library)
Tuesday 11 June @ 6.30pm, Senior Citizens Hall Motueka
Thursday 6 June @ 6.30pm Mapua Hall, Bill Marris Room.
Tea / Coffee and biscuits will be supplied.
Because of the topics on offer we are opening this to not just neighbourhood support members, but to the general public, so please do tell your friends and neighbours.

Training Workshops Objectives for the evening:
To enhance the knowledge of all participants across the four emergency topics so that our residents have more confidence and will have better outcomes in emergency events.
How would you cope in an emergency ?
LEARN HOW TO: SAVE LIVES - How to Perform CPR and
How to operate an Automated External Defibrillator (known as an AED machine) - Paramedic Danny Fowler

PREVENT CRIME & How to Keep Safe Snr. Constable Grant Heney
Help to make your community a safer place by connecting with your neighbours.You can make a difference and help Beat Crime!
Q.Do you KNOW who in your Community will need special assistance in an emergency or in a severe major event?
Will you get Thru after a major event?
Kathy Solly and & Joe Kennedy Civil Defence and Emergency Management will tell you about: The importance of being adequately prepared for all types of events. How you and your neighbours can support each other during an event and cope afterwards. They will explain who and what agencies are there to help you.
Prevent House and Rural Fires and learn some tips on how to survive a fire
How you can help to prevent fires in Rural areas and in the Home or place of work

Approximate times on the schedule are:
6.30-7 - Intro
7:00 - 7:45 - St Johns with demo on CPR and AED machine
Tea break, tea coffee suppled by Westpac staff
7.55- 8.15 - Police, Crime Prevention, Personal Safety and update on new emergency number 105
8.15 -8.45 - Civil Defence - Get Thru + Welfare aspects after events
8.45 - to end - Fire & Emergency NZ What to do in house fires, fire prevention for house + rural.
