Discover a new wine at New World

New World Blenheim

"Kia ora – Andrew Watson from New World Blenheim here. Keen to discover a new top drop in time for summer?

My favourite wine from this year’s New World Wine Awards is the Kingston Estate Clare Valley Shiraz 2018. Shiraz is a slightly sweet bold and fruity style, it’s more robust than Pinot Noirs but not heavy like Cab Sauv’s if you’re looking for the perfect balanced red. I find the plum notes very appealing and while this wine is young it’s still robust, and with a couple of years cellaring it will be a fantastic drop.

Come into your local New World and explore the Top 50 Gold-medal winning wines – we have winners for every budget. Plus join us for complimentary wine sampling and try before you buy.

Stolen Jacket

KEN from Marybank

There were several vehicle break-ins in Marybank/Atawhai overnight Monday/Tuesday (9/10th December). Stolen from Wastney Terrace was a very distinctive "Hoodlam/Sea Shepherd" jacket made especially for Sea Shepherd crew members. It is probably the only one on the South Island and also has a sentimental value. I attach the following photos. If seen being worn please contact the Police or if found telephone 5451103. Thanks.

NMIT staff sharpen their skills for Nelson's Christmas Celebration

The Team from Nelson City Council

A team of dedicated Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology staff has volunteered to spend the first day of its holidays preparing a festive 3-course meal for Nelson’s Christmas Celebration.

The celebration will be held Friday 20 December at Greenmeadows Centre in Stoke from 11.30am to 2pm.

Tickets are $15 and on sale now until 17 December from the Nelson City Council Customer Service Centre or the Stoke Library.

Guests must bring their tickets with them and people who need support must bring their caregiver, who will also need to buy a ticket.

The event is restricted to senior citizens, including couples, who will be spending Christmas alone. Transportation is available if required – this can be booked when purchasing your ticket.

If anyone wishes to make a donation, please contact the Nelson City Council on 03 546 0200.
