AMI Organistation Grants
The Koha Shed is a nationwide registered charity & I have run the Hawkes Bay Shed for over three years from my home. It started off with donations of household goods & clothing donated by the public, then shared to families in need. In the last year I realised that Hawkes Bay needed food more, so I now collect & distribute food to families in need & the wider community. I have done all of this out of my own pocket (a very shallow pocket) Koha's policy is "No Money Changes Hands, just a smile is all you need for payment". I run six Fridges & Freezers from my home that has boosted my power bill immensely & I also fund the running costs of my car, that is most days loaded to the hilt with donated food from different sources. To be able to have a slush fund to help collect, store & distribute the food would be a huge help.
Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
