This Tuesday evening course for over 6 weeks will teach you all the basics you require and guides you through making a lunch bag and an apron. You will learn vital skills to begin your dressmaking experience.
Sewing Workshop for Beginner to Intermediate
Thursdays 7 March - 11 April (Except for 28 March)
5.30pm - 7.15pm
Price: $40 per class OR $150 for 5 classes
This Thursday evening course for over 5 weeks will teach you all the basics you require and guides you through making a skirt or a top. You will learn vital skills to begin your dressmaking experience and helps you understand a commercial pattern.
Minimum age required: 14 years old
Requirement: Bring your own sewing machine

Art.Work Workshop: Business Tools for Artists with Kate Hursthouse
Making a living with your art and running a business can be overwhelming. From email marketing to social media planning, photo editing and accounting, there are many other facets to creative business besides creating art. In this two-hour workshop Kate Hursthouse will give you an introduction to the various programmes and apps that can be used to keep your business ticking along.
Kate Hursthouse is an Auckland artist, illustrator and designer known for her vibrant use of colour and pattern.
She established her own creative studio in 2014 and has produced contemporary artworks, illustrations, hand-painted murals, and an illustrated children’s book for a range of clients
Kate has exhibited across New Zealand and internationally and her artworks have been gifted to former Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern and the Māori King, Kiingi Tūheitia.
In 2022, she launched The Creative Mother Podcast, talking with creative women about the impact of motherhood on creativity and business.

The Waikato Hauraki Conservation Fund was kickstarted by a significant donation by Dianne and Selwyn June in 2021, and then boosted by a donation from the estate of the late John and Bunny Mortimer, who established the Taitua Arboretum.
The new Conservation Fund welcomes public donations that will grow the ongoing investment income it uses to support conservation work by voluntary groups and landowners.
“From what we’ve seen, it is the small things that need reliable funding. For instance, they might need to buy some bait stations, perhaps send some attendees on a first aid course, or buy safety gear” says Dianne.
