The groups meet in the hall at Pukekohe Anglican Church, 43 Queen Street, Pukekohe.

Starting Wednesday 24 July 2024 from 12-2

The Space programme is aimed at first time parents with newborn babies and has been designed to support parents through the first year of their child's developmental journey. Second or more, time parents are also welcome if you feel the group would be of benefit to you.
The programme runs weekly for 3 terms (i.e. 30-40 weeks) in a relaxed, baby friendly atmosphere. At Space, you and your baby will be able to connect with other new parents and their babies. The Space groups meet in term time for 2 hours giving you the opportunity to make real connections both within and outside of the group times.
During each session, you and your baby will explore music and movement, crafts, and books along with a weekly facilitated discussion that looks at different parenting topics such as
Becoming a parent
Brain basics
Attachment
Movement
Treasure baskets and heuristic play
There is an initial $45 enrolment fee for Parenting Place when you complete the online enrolment form and a $20 donation per term that goes to Pukekohe Community Action (PCA) who run the course (or a gold coin donation when you can). Payment options are also available for holders of a community services card.
Please email Space.pukekohe@gmail.com or Pukekohecommunityaction@xtra.co.nz if you have any queries or book directly via the online booking links above

The folks at Holthuizer Farm applied to the Fund for support to protect its waterways and enhance its biodiversity, with the specific intent of including children in the effort.
Farmer Dale Beker says the school's planting day was a huge success, with 40 kids planting 700 natives along a stretch of the Piako River.
In preparation Dale and her team moved the fence back 10m+ from the river, and engaged Restore Native Plant Nursery to drone map the area to estimate plant numbers and advise on weed control and species selection.
"We purchased over 200 plants from the Walton School nursery, which our PTA runs with the senior kids, and another 500 from Restore Native and the Waikato Ecological Restoration Trust," says Dale.
The Waikato Hauraki Conservation Fund is a ‘funding gap-filler’ that supports predator control and restoration planting projects across the region. It was kickstarted by a significant donation from Dianne and Selwyn June in 2021, who participate in its grantmaking decisions, and then boosted by a donation from the estate of the late John and Bunny Mortimer, who established the Taitua Arboretum.
Donations to the Waikato Hauraki Conservation Fund are most welcome, as they help grow the ongoing investment income it uses to support local conservation work by voluntary groups and landowners.

The votes for all finalists have been tallied and they have been chosen by Neighbourly members across the country as the Prospa Local Business Hero of 2024.
The Puketapu Hotel was nominated by a local called Margaret and the nomination reads:
'On Feb 14, 2023, Cyclone Gabrielle flooded many of the rural areas. Puketapu Hotel went under perhaps half a meter of water. However, immediately Mary Danielson and her son, Sam Danielson, along with their loyal staff pulled it together to cook copious amounts of food that without electricity would have been wasted. Throughout the years many of us have been treated with a pub gathering where we can reconnect and a free meal. At Christmas there was Santa, games, gifts for kids, donated patchwork for adults, an ice cream truck and lots of camaraderie.
This February on the cyclone anniversary, they again pulled out the stops to give hundreds of us a special night. We are all tired of the cyclone cleanup and they understood that it was needed.'
Such a deserving business and team, well done Mary and Sam. And thank you to all those who voted!
