Electric vehicle community day at Hampton Downs!
We're hoping to set a record for the number of electric vehicles (EVs) in one place this weekend! Join us Sunday afternoon for a drive with a difference at the Hampton Downs Motorsport Park - noon to 4:30pm, 7th October. McLaren and Tesla are racing!
EV owners can drive around the 2.8km race track! Tackle the track by donation or koha to help the organising group the Electric Vehicle Association of Aotearoa (EVAA) with funding. Get advice, talk about your cars, there is a prize-giving too!
EVs will be able to charge on site, using the WEL Networks fast charger there or another a few minutes away at Te Kauwhata, plus a variety of plug-in chargers.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
