On the alternate weeks (during term time), the studio will be open between 6 – 8pm on Tuesday nights for participants to practice together what they learn in the sessions with Caroline.
Materials and equipment will be provided.
18 March:
The Colour Wheel and mixing basics
Participants will learn about primary, secondary and tertiary colours, as well as concepts like hue, saturation and value. They'll mix their own colour wheels and explore blending techniques, applying their knowledge to an abstract painting that focuses on colour harmony.
2 April:
Warm vs Cool Colours and mood
This session explores how warm and cool colours influence emotions and atmosphere in art. Participants will experiment with gradients and contrasting palettes, creating two small landscape paintings, one using warm tones, the other using cool colours.
29 April:
Complimentary and Analogous Colours
Dive into colour relationships, focussing on how complimentary colours create contrast and how analogous colours enhance harmony. Exercises will include colour matching techniques. Participants will create two paintings, one emphasising bold complementary contrasts and the other using a softer analogous palette.
13 May:
Tints, Shades and Tones
This session introduces depth and dimension through tints (adding white), shades (adding black) and tones (adding grey). Participants will complete a monochromatic study and a still life painting, learning how subtle shifts in value can transform their work.
27 May:
Colour and Composition
This session focusses on how colour placement influences composition and visual impact. Participants will explore colour dominance, balance and focal points before creating a finished piece where one colour leads the viewers eye.

'Masks of Self' is a workshop designed to explore Brazil’s cultural roots through art, movement, and dance, focusing on themes of identity and self-discovery. Brazilian culture is a vibrant mix of African, Indigenous, and European influences. Masks symbolise various aspects of this heritage, representing forces of nature, mythical creatures, ancestors, and ceremonial traditions, as well as regional expressions and carnival festivities.
Led by multidisciplinary artist Robbi Carvalho and dancer/dance therapist Sarah dos Santos, the workshop offers a supportive space for participants to explore their identity through painting and movement, grounded in Brazilian cultural traditions.
This 4-hour workshop provides a transformative experience that combines creativity, cultural reflection, identity exploration, and self-discovery. Participants will paint their own masks and learn Afro-Brazilian dance movements.

'Circle of Stories' is a 4-hour workshop for 12 women to explore Brazilian culture through art, movement, and self-discovery. Each participant will decorate a fabric canvas with personal stories, using collage, hand-stitching, and paint, exploring their own identity through creative expression. They will also try movements from Afro-Brazilian danças de roda (circle dances), experiencing the rhythms and movements central to these traditions. Led by dancer/therapist Sarah dos Santos and multidisciplinary artist Robbi Carvalho, the workshop provides a supportive space for creative expression and cultural learning. Open to adult women, it’s a unique opportunity to explore art, dance, and culture in a safe, nurturing environment.

Thieves are lazy and will look for easy opportunities to steal.
There are some basic prevention steps you can take to help reduce the chance of your property or vehicle being targeted, and if they are targeted increase the chance of those involved being identified.
🔒Take valuable items and important documents out of your vehicle.
🔒Always lock your vehicle, and park in your garage, up a driveway, or in a well-lit area.
🔒Consider installing security cameras.
🔒Get packages delivered to a place where someone will be home to receive them, or to a work address.
🔒If you do have deliveries made to your home, make sure you're going to be home, or have a secure location where they can be left.
🔒Be smart when disposing of packaging, so passers-by can’t see if you've been buying expensive items.
🔒Ensure you have your packages delivered to a secure location like your workplace, the rear of your property, or select a time you will be at home for delivery.

Daniel Smith Artist Statement:
I sculpt from found items including cutlery, kitchen utensils and construction materials. Inspired by the forms of real animals and fish, I turn humble materials into creatures that might exist in a world a little creepier than our own. I illuminate many of my works to achieve a sinister imperfection as the light spills from cracks and crevices.

We are seeing a significant increase in reporting of ‘Hi Mum’ scams.
A ‘Hi Mum’ scam is a scam where a random message from an unknown number is sent to you claiming to be from a close relative, usually your son or daughter.
The fake relative often claims their phone is broken – which is why they’re contacting you from a different number – and will ask you to do something, sometimes asking you to help them with a payment or to do something by clicking a link.
If you receive one of these, don’t click the links. Try to contact your relative using their normal number which is probably still working.
You can also report these scam messages by forwarding free to Department of Internal Affairs on 7726
