New Medical Service in Wairarapa

Clive from Masterton District

Manaaki Ki Wairarapa is a new Charitable Trust that has been established to provide after hours acute medical services in the Wairarapa. It has opened a medical centre trading as First Health and Wellness (FHW) located at 10 First Street, Masterton. A gap in medical services was identified because none of the Wairarapa medical centres provide an after hours service during the week. People in the Wairarapa who commute out of the area find it very difficult to get a medical appointment with their GP and it is often difficult for other patients to get an appointment with their GP until the following day.

Many people have to resort after hours to going to the Emergency Department (ED) at Masterton Hospital and for relatively non urgent ailments this can result in long wait times. This put pressure on the ED, but until now patients often have no alternative to seek ED help after 6.00 PM.

First Health and Wellness is a drop in service that now fills that gap in medical services for all Wairarapa residents and visitors and operates from 5.00 - 900 PM Monday to Friday. You do not have to be registered with FHW to get an appointment. You can contact them on 06-777-9070 or e-mail info@mhw.nz.

Warren from Masterton District

Has anybody got a concrete or water filled hand roller that they don't need anymore. I'm putting down a new lawn and need it to compact the dirt down.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
