You Might Be Surprised to Know

Are you 65+, live in the Franklin Local Board area, and have a tale to tell about your life that might surprise a younger listener?

Linda Grigg has been an Accredited Visitor with Age Concern Counties Manukau for more than two years. The Franklin Local Board has approved a grant for an arts project Linda will be managing, called 'You Might Be Surprised to Know'. She says, "Often when society looks at an older person, that is all they see. They do not know the rich life experiences that person has had, and continues to have. By telling snippets of older people's life stories, this project aims to break those stereotypes and to remind us all of the uniqueness of every individual, and of their value to our communities, regardless of age."

Linda is seeking participants willing to be interviewed and photographed. The stories/photos will be published online (probably on Facebook) and in an exhibition to the public in June 2017. This is a voluntary project, so no payment will be made for the stories/photos.

If you are interested in being a participant or want to know more, please contact Linda on surprisedtoknow@gmail.com or phone 021 145 1304. Please note that interviewees must currently live in the Franklin Local Board area to be eligible to participate.
