Thanks to all those who provided food, helped with the service, and helped with the clean-up. You were all awesome - a real community effort!! Special mention must go to Sharon, and Nikki & her husband - your time and committment to us was amazing. Also to the group from the 'Happy Wanderers' who volunteered to sing Christmas songs to us. Hutt City Council General Manager of City and Community Services Matt Reid said the report on the learners' pool building, which was added to the main building in 1997, had found it is now rated at less than 20 per cent of the New Building Standards.
While the learners' pool could legally have continued to operate, the council had decided to take a cautious approach and close it. Read more

Although many people were for the idea, some parents felt "blindsided" that they weren't forewarned that Hana Kōkō would be stepping in for Santa Claus. The parade's organisers have since apologised.
