Cool As Summer Refresher Drink Challenge!

Hutt City Council

The competition’s heating up for Lower Hutt’s Coolest drink this summer! From 13 to 30 January, 17 local cafés, restaurants, bars and bakeries have their own cool creations on offer as part of the 7th Cool As Summer Refresher Drink Challenge.

Do you fancy cooling down with a Pokémon ‘Charizard’ inspired fruit slushy? Perhaps a ‘Squeeze the Day, Nothing is Impopsicle’ kiwifruit, lime and ginger number is your ideal refresher under a shady spot? There’s something for everyone amongst 17 options. One thing’s for sure though, we need your help to choose 2022’s coolest drink! Customers can vote for their favourite drink by scanning the QR code located in each café, or on the Cool As Challenge Facebook or Instagram pages.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
