New Council Rubbish Collection

Diane from Epuni

We have heard a lot recently about the new council rubbish arrangements. This will not be an option, there will be no other option. We were previously very happy with Al's Litter Bins, who provided a fabulous service. I think we need to hear from council about what will happen to these other companies, now that the council are taking away their employment. Come on HCC - front up to let us know what will happen to these workers.

Razor blades in the walls....

Kylie Klein Nixon Reporter from Homed

Has anyone ever seen something like the image below in an older Kiwi home? Does anyone remember them from their childhood? These strange slots allowed you to rid yourself of an old razor and never think of it again...but it also meant, years down the track, that someone renovating would be in for a nasty, rusty surprise.
I'm certain I've seen something like this here in Aotearoa-NZ, but can't for the life of me recall where. It was in the back of the medicine cupboard. Let us know if you've seen, had - or have - one in your home.

Countdown for bin choice

Hutt City Council

Remember to check your latest rates bill, choose your bins and complete your selection before 31 January so you’re ready for the rubbish and recycling upgrade in July.

If you’ve lost your rates letter or the included bin form, you can visit us on Laings Rd or at your local library/community hub, or call 04 570 6666.

We’re on the move to a sustainable future, with 524,00 plastic rubbish bags set to be saved from landfill each year under the upgrade.
