Your chance to comment on Beltway Cycleway before 9 June
Hutt City Council is developing a cycle network around the city. As part of this development, we have been investigating a proposed cycleway extending between Seaview and connecting to the Hutt River Trail at Taita Drive. We want to make access to cycleways easier and safer across the city and reduce traffic on the roads.
Called the “Beltway Cycleway” we want to provide a cycling spine to the east of the city with the opportunity for additional links to be made over time between residential areas, the CBD, workplaces, the hospital, schools and recreation areas.
The Beltway Cycleway is one of three projects in Lower Hutt to receive urban cycleways funding through the NZ Transport Agency. The other two are the Wainuiomata Shared Pathway and the Eastern Bays Shared Pathway.
This week we kick off a three week consultation period about options for the Beltway. Residents in the southern and northern sections of the city will receive information and feedback forms. We want to reach as many interested parties as possible who may want to comment on the options.
If you visit the link below you will see the proposed primary route as well as a secondary route along Bell Road and Waikare Avenue to Whites Line East and you can comment online.
You have until Friday 9 June to provide your comments so please consider it.
