Upcycling projects

Katy from Maungaraki

Hi Neighbours. I’ve enjoyed seeing everyone’s efforts on the Resene Upcycle Awards! It’s great to see the amazing projects people are working on. I think this would make a great book too!
I am currently studying a Master of Fine Arts part time with Massey and my research is based around changing people’s behaviour towards objects that have been disregarded and how far do we upcycle or repurpose an object. I’d love to hear from people who have been involved with the Resene project and any similar on what motivates people to ‘save’ items from going to landfill. It would be great if you could email me with a picture of your object and what made you do what you did with it? Which was most important to you in wanting to keep the original item you upcycled:
A) it had sentimental value
B) you liked how it looked
C) you could see how it could still function
D) it had some historical value to you?
E) other reason (please specify)

Please email me on info@economate.co.nz
Thanks Katy
