Protecting Lower Hutt's natural heritage
Hutt City Council is starting public consultation as part of its work to strengthen protections for Lower Hutt’s natural heritage.
There are currently only limited safeguards in Council’s District Plan for these valuable landscapes and ecological and coastal areas.
Council will now talk to landowners whose land has been identified as having a potential area of significance. Council also hopes to discuss with landowners and interested members of the public about ways to protect and manage these natural areas for future generations.
