All water quality tests of the Lower Hutt water network have come back clear for the third day since the chlorination of the supply began.
Chlorine was added to Lower Hutt’s normally unchlorinated supply as a precaution after a routine water quality test at a reservoir came back positive for e-coli on Friday 3 February.
Three days of clear test results are required before Wellington Water stops the temporary chlorination of the Lower Hutt water supply. As we’ve now had three days of clear testing, the temporary chlorination has now stopped as agreed with Regional Public Health. You may continue to notice a taste or odour in your water for a few more days as the chlorinated water works its way through the reticulated network.
