I just had to share this photo:) There are people who do things for attention, for money, for ego and then there are those that just do, because it's a great thing to do! I admire these ladies so much. I have known both for over 15 years and can attest to their endless support of community and charity needs. So here's my shout out for the Lower Hutt Mayoress #LindaGossWallace and #HeatherNewell, Upper Hutt City Council candidate. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Poll: Would you participate in local initiatives aimed at stopping plastic from reaching our oceans?

Volunteers will be scouring the foreshore, riverbanks, and islands for rubbish on Saturday the 13th as part of the Clean Up the Hutt event.

This initiative helps stop plastic from reaching our oceans and makes our waterways cleaner and safer for everyone.
