Has time come for a change in Eastbourne and the Bays?
Has time come to start the process of getting rid of the archaic Community Board structure and getting a direct representative (Councillor(s)) In Hutt City Council instead of having very poor voice at the table and only pedestrian participation.
It is time to have, vision, look at the real needs of the people not just the 'old' status quo regime and put vibrant plans, both short and long term into a discussed and well thought out plan. I personally asked the ECB to come forth with a documented 'VISION' post the last election and have seen nothing!
One singular Councillor who actually lived in the Bays, worked full time on improving infrastructure policy, listening to more the community (the whole community) would be much more effective than the quarterly facade of the ECB production.
Too many things are being 'shelved' or not even being considered. Too many very, very small self interest voices who do nothing but complain about trivial matters at a time when we all pay considerable rates and get little back.
Why are roads other tan the main ones still traversed by ugly webs of power/phone lines on deteriorating poles when these should be underground? Why are footpaths hit and miss and drainage guttering in a disastrous state? Why are traffic matters getting worse and innovate solution being ignored? The list continues.
Enough is enough. Better representation, positive action and true representation, please. The current Councillors on ECB are more interest in Petone than Eastbourne and the Bays. The rest of the board should be thanked for their service, but really? The reason for the creation of the community board was OK for the time, but that time is gone.
