"Our family could no longer take care of us, so now we are looking for a new home. We are best friends and will need to be adopted together. We are not yet used to lots of handling, so would not be suitable for young children. We need an experienced home to help us get used to the ways of the world.
We will need a large grassy area for daytime, with a weather-proof hutch. At night we will need to be inside with you as part of the family, so an area inside your home to call our own will be needed. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
