Council bulldozing kids' right to take risks

Reporter Community News

Masterton residents are outraged over plans to remove two popular attractions from a children's playground.
The Masterton District Council is proposing to remove a bulldozer and tractor which have been features of the Kids Own Playground since 1961.
A report to councillors said both pieces of equipment are in poor condition and are potentially dangerous to children.
“Whilst there are minimal reports of injury or incidents over the past five years, the equipment no longer meets today's playground safety standards,” the report said.
