Tomo leads to road closure south of Waihi
A big tomo under a road near Waihi has caved in. Trig Road South is closed near the Mathers Road intersection, Hauraki District Council said.
A large tomo caved in under the road, council said "leaving a hole approximately 1.8m wide at the surface and extending 4m - 5m deep under the road".
The tomo was discovered by a local contractor transporting farm machinery, council said.
It was too soon to know how long the road will be closed for but council hoped to have an update at midday today.
