TV One news item on sea level rise impacts on Thames

Denis from Thames

TV One news item tonight on sea level rise impacts on Thames and the Hauraki Plains. Good explanation about how land subsidence in and around Thames is contributing to sea level rise effects, and great to see the flooding maps from the Regional Council showing the impact on Thames for 0.2m, 0.5 m and 1 m of sea level rise being used.

Some confusion in the report between the Thames-Coromandel District Council and the Hauraki District Council. Overall a good summary of the local issues.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
