Neighbourly Q&A: Renting rights with CAB's Sacha Green

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

We are continuing our Q&A sessions on Neighbourly. This week we have the amazing Sacha Green from Citizens Advice Bureau New Zealand (CABNZ) who will be answering your questions about your renting rights.

A little bit about Sacha:
She has been working for CABNZ for 10 years and is passionate about empowering people with knowledge of their rights as well as ensuring access to justice.

She helps support the team of over 2,000 trained volunteers who deliver the CAB service in 80 neighbourhoods around Aotearoa by providing advice and support at a national level on a wide range of issues. One of Sacha’s work areas is leading the CAB’s social justice work on housing and tenancy issues.

Whether you're a flatmate, landlord, boarder or flatmate, you can leave a comment below and Sacha will share an answer on Wednesday from 9.30am. You may want to ask about notice periods, bond fulfillment, reasonable rent increases, or even whose responsibility it is to deal with mould in the home.

Join Sacha here on Wednesday at 9.30am. See you then!.

Poll: FREE Healthy Homes Assessment ( Covering the Waikato)

Kellah from Frankton

My name is Kellah, i am a Healthy Homes Navigator from Vinnies Hamilton. I am currently seeking new clients to join our Healthy Homes programme. It is paramount that our homes are meeting the healthy homes standards, not only for ourselves but also for our Tamariki/ Mokopuna. A healthy home is beneficial because it reduces serious problems like;

Respiratory Health & Asthma

This programme is designed to work alongside our clients to ensure their home is warm and dry during the colder months. During our assessments we cover the 5 main elements such as ;

Insulation - Insulation is correctly fitted and complies with the healthy homes standards.
Heating - What sort of heating the client has in their home and how we can better their heating situation if it is minimal or restricted.
Draught Stopping - Any draughts in the home
Ventilation - Checking to see if clients are correctly ventilating their homes.
Moisture Ingress and Drainage - Recording any damages or repairs that need to be done.

We like to meet with our clients with a follow up appointment to go over our findings and work out where we can support them to get their homes to the correct standard of healthy homes compliance.

We can also provide these client with ;

Curtains
Power Switching
Draught Snakes
Food Parcels
Spiritual Guidance
Winter Warmers

We provide our clients with this support for as long as they need us, or until we are satisfied they are happy and content with their progress.
