Local Body By-Election

Chris from Hamilton East

I am putting myself forward as a candidate for the by-election. I live in Hamilton East, my children go to school in Hamilton East, I have owned businesses in Hamilton East, and now am working and studying in Hamilton East. I have been on the Hamilton East Community Trust for over twelve years, and am the former owner and operator of The Cook - Cafe & Bar on Cook St (now Cook St Social).

I do not like the direction Hamilton City is being taken with unnecessary rate increases that are not affordable. It works out to a possible 62% increase for the area.

I like a balanced and well thought out strategy that looks after the needs of ALL Hamiltonians. I do hope you will consider supporting me when the postal ballot comes out in January.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
