If you remember hearing about the 12-year-old girl hit by a ute on her way to school in Hillcrest, here's an update.
The Berkley Normal Middle School student has had surgery and is in a stable condition at Waikato Hospital.
She's surrounded by a teddy bear in her school's colours, cards, balloons, and flowers, according to principal Nathan Leith.
He spoke to the student just hours after the accident, on a controlled crossing.
"That actually made my day - to be able to hear her talk and knowing she was going to be okay was a huge relief."
The girl is said to be getting back to her "cheeky self", talking, and asking questions about the crash.
