Swan plants
If your Monarch caterpillars have eaten all your swan plants & you are going to buy more plants, first ask if their swan plants have been sprayed. some places do spray them & that will be certain death to your carefully raised caterpillars. The Moths & Butterflies of NZ Trust has negotiated with many of the larger retailers to ensure that they only stock butterfly friendly swan plants, you can see the list on their website
Roadworks on SH1 between Hampton Downs and Rangiriri
From 7 to 18 December, there will be night-time closures on SH1 between Hampton Downs and Rangiriri (Sundays to Thursdays, 9pm to 5am) to carry out wire rope barrier maintenance. Please expect delays when travelling through this area.
