SPCA services reopened gradually, with the initial focus being able to care for the most vulnerable animals in the Waikato community. Thanks to the support of our neighbouring SPCAs, we also ensured that the vital SPCA Inspectorate services were continued in the Waikato area.
On the 1st November 2017 the majority of the SPCA’s across the country merged into one organisation to ensure that SPCA provides the best animal welfare outcomes it can and, that we remain relevant and sustainable for the future.
We want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your ongoing support over these challenging months. As you probably know, the SPCA is almost entirely funded through donations and it means a lot to know we have such a supportive and caring community in Waikato.
We would like to share our plans for the future of Waikato region with the community and accordingly would like to invite all those interested to an information evening.
Venue: SPCA Hamilton
Address: 49 Northway St, Te Rapa, Hamilton
Date: Tuesday 1 May 2018
Time: 5.30pm
If animal welfare is as important to you, as it is to us, please come along and hear what the future holds. We welcome any questions you may have, so please send them through to laura.millar@spca.org.nz by the 27 April and we can ensure we have all the information to respond at the meeting.
Thank you again for your support,
SPCA Team

As we age, the risk of having a fall increases. Those over the age of 65 have a 1 in 3 chance of having a fall and those over 80 it’s 1 in 2.
Having a fall can be devastating and can often result in a broken bone, which is painful and can take a long time to heal stopping us from doing the things we love.
The good news is that many falls are preventable. A new movement called Live Stronger for Longer aims to help reduce the risk of having a fall so we can live an independent and active life.
Having good strength and balance is key to staying on your feet. You can find approved community strength and balance classes in your area and practical information, advice, and resources on reducing the risk of falls.
Live Stronger for Longer and join the movement today.
Proudly brought to you by ACC, HQSC, MOH and your local community health providers.
