A plucky group of backyard conservationists plan to make an 80m buffer around the central Hamilton reserve.
Surgeon and conservationist Dr Alwyn Seeley restored paddocks into 2.5ha of native bushland in what's become known as the AJ Seeley Gully.
Community volunteers have now got a $2000 boost to create a pest-control barrier around it.
