Boost for Hamilton's nature showcase
Work on the Waiwhakareke predator-free fence has been given the go ahead, bringing Hamilton another step closer to gaining its first fully enclosed ecological sanctuary.
The project has long been on the wish list for city nature advocates and while it’s had its ups and downs through Covid and tight times, it’s set to bring some of the magic of successful ecological sanctuaries like Maungatautari into Hamilton’s backyard in a spot accessible to residents right next to the zoo.
