Dogs and weather

Elezabeth from Burbush - Rotokauri

I was shocked yesterday (2 Feb 2019) - I saw a white car going down to the lake and DoC area in Rotokauri and there was a little Australian terrier running behind the car. Today was very hot - our own dogs were lounging in front of a fan to keep them cool. Then 10 minutes later the same car went out onto the road again - and the poor little dog was still running behind the car. Even when the owner got out of the car to shut the gate he never let the poor little fellow back in the car at that stage and it was still running down the road behind the car. I really doubt the intelligence of the owner - if that little dog didn't have heatstroke it must have had torn and scratched paws. Do people not put their brain into gear before they act on their "bright ideas". I would like someone to tell me that the poor little fellow is okay and still alive.
