Heavy rain warning
MetService has issued a heavy rain warning for Westland.
Valid: 12 hours from 3:00pm Monday to 3:00am Tuesday.
Forecast: Periods of heavy rain. Expect 100 to 150 mm of rain to accumulate about the ranges, and 50 to 80mm near the coast. Peak rates of 15 to 25 mm/h on the ranges, with possible thunderstorms.
An update for severe weather will be issued by 10:00am Monday 16 Sep 2019.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
