Otago Regional Council hits ratepayers with proposed 9 per cent rates rise
The Otago Regional Council is signalling a 9.1 per cent average rates increase, citing climate change as one of the main reasons.
Council chair Marian Hobbs said the province was experiencing the affects of climate change and the council's work to adapt – as well as deal with natural hazards, flood protection and river management – was "more important than ever".
People will be able to submit feedback on the council's 2020-21 annual plan between March 26 and April 24, with hearings to be held from May 21 to 26.
