Former Cadbury site to be chockablock with Dunedin's new hospital
A nine-storey inpatient block for Dunedin's new hospital will be built on the city's former Cadbury factory site.
The factory will be demolished, apart from a facade on the old dairy block, to make way for the new main inpatient facility.
The $1.4 billion rebuild of Dunedin's current ageing facility is one of the largest infrastructure projects in New Zealand, with more than 1000 workers expected to work on the project.
The new hospital is expected to be completed in November 2028, but the Government announced in December that it would fast-track the outpatient and day surgery building so both could be finished by November 2024.
