Dunedin Police are investigating a number of burglaries in the Roslyn, Maori Hill and Belleknowes area over the past few weeks. The burglars have targeted jewellery, medals, clothing and miscellaneous household items

For people who stay at home during the day, it is particularly important to be aware of suspicious or unknown people in and around your residence. Dial 111 immediately if you see someone breaking into your neighbour’s house or car.

Here are a few simple things you can do to make your home intruder-safe:
· Lock your car and your garage.
· Keep the doors locked, even when you are at home
· Keep your spare key in a safe place.
· Generally, the more expensive the lock, the more effective it will be
· Consider installing burglar alarms
· Sensor lights act as a deterrent.

You can find more advice on the Police website: www.police.govt.nz....

Avenal Park Funeral Home belongs to the FDANZ and are qualified professionals you can count on to deliver a meaningful funeral.

Unfortunately, grief cannot be opted into or out of, it will confront us whether we like it or not. Social science tells us that the only way to effectively cope with grief and start to heal is through the process of a meaningful farewell. A good bye.

A funeral doesn’t have to be a fuss, it doesn’t have to be big; it just needs to be a meaningful experience for those that matter. A meaningful funeral is an opportunity for grandchildren, children, friends and other family to say good bye with as much enthusiasm as you gave them in saying hello.

For more information and to discuss prearranging funerals, contact Nigel, Donna, Chris or Mel at Avenal Park Funeral Home on 03 218 9021 or visit us at 75 Fox Street, Invercargill.

New Dunedin Hospital.

Sue from North Dunedin

Great news at last we can look forward to planning and building a New Hospital for Dunedin.
Let's hope there are not to many objections from Local business owners affected by the New Site.
For some it may end a long history of a business in Dunedin on that site.
Any objections and Legal action… View more

If you've noticed a missed call from a number you don't recognise (particularly international numbers), it is important that you don't call this number back and consider reporting this as a potential scam.

Phone companies are advising customers to reject these calls and if you have friends or family living overseas, it is recommended to have their numbers added as contacts in your mobile phone, so you can identify when they are calling you.

- Check out these tips from Netsafe for how to help protect yourself from scams.
- Read about the different types of scams you could be caught out by including wangiri (one ring) and 'technical support' scams
