Dunedin's dramatic rethink for one-way highway system
Dunedin one-way roading system may be changed to accommodate the city’s new hospital and an upgrade of the CBD.
The plan proposes changing the city’s current one-way southbound route into a two-way route with minimal parking, and turning the current northbound route into a two-way local road, with the main cycleway moved to the local road outside the hospital.
An alternative route along the harbour – bypassing the city centre – could be improved to help ease congestion. The route would effectively avoid the new hospital during and after its construction.
