HURLEY, Dorothy Claire

Passed away suddenly on Wednesday 16th November 2022 at Wellington Hospital. Aged 85 years. Dearly loved partner of the late Bruce and loved mother and mother-in-law of Bruce and Bronagh. Loved sister of Reg, David & Judith, and Aunt, Great-Aunt and Great-Great-Aunt to their families. A great friend to so many and she will be sadly missed by everyone she knew. A service will be held to celebrate Dorothy’s life at Cedarwood, 17 Parata Street, Waikanae, on Friday 25th November at 2.00pm. BLAKE, Rosalie Helen

Passed peacefully on Thursday, November 17 at Wellington Regional Hospital, after a short illness. Much loved mother of Simon and Jeremy, and grandmother of Ben, Toby, Anna, Charlotte and Billy. Rosalie was a long serving head of libraries in Horowhenua, a practicing Justice of the Peace, and a stalwart of the Levin Pottery Club. A service to celebrate Rosalie’s life will be held at Harvey’s Chapel, 284 Oxford Street, Levin, at 2.00pm, Wednesday, November 23, followed by a private cremation.

SIMPSON, Shirley Ann

Died Wednesday November 16, 2022. Shirley was the widow of Barry Simpson and mother to Craig, Tamika, Tane and Rosalind, grandmother to Taylor, Georgia, Jordan, Jackson, Luke and Evie, great-grandmother to Charlie, Taine and Mack. Tamika wishes to particularly thank the people of Wakefield Homestead who cared for Mum and kept her company so kindly since she became unwell in May. Gratitude is also due to the women who came to Mum at home for many years. A service will be held at St Mary’s, Manuka Street Saturday November 26 at 11am. From 1pm onwards, family and friends will be gathering informally for ginger beers on Shirley’s front lawn.

Peacefully passed away on 17 November 2022 at Bob Owens Retirement Village, Tauranga, aged 93 years. Dearly loved husband of The Late Valerie for 60 years. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Rob and Joanne, Keith and Dallas, and Stephen and Angela. Loved and treasured Pop of David and Kelly; Ashley, Courtney and Danielle; Holly and Ruby and Liam. Loved “Pop” of Julie. Bill proudly served his country in the Korean War. A service for Bill will be held at Seddon Park Funeral Home Chapel, cnr Seddon Road & Somerset Street, Hamilton, on Wednesday, 23 November 2022 at 1.30pm, followed by private cremation. Peacefully on November 12, 2022, in Auckland. Aged 104. Loved wife of the late Charles Fagan. Loved eldest daughter of the late Albert and Margaret Glassenbury. Much loved sister of Anne and the late Jim Adlam, Colleen and the late Bob Henderson. Passed away on Thursday 17th November 2022 at Hilda Ross Rest Home and Hospital, aged 83 years. Dearly beloved wife of the late Bill. Loved sister of the late Tess and Jim Hyde, Uban and Pam Jerkovich, and Lester and Beryl Bowler. Loved aunt of Loralee, Karen, Morris, Mark, Dianne, the late Peter, Bruce, and their partners.Thank you to Waikato Hospital and Hilda Ross for their care, compassion and support this last year. A service to celebrate Desma’s life will be held at Discovery Christian Centre, 9 Insoll Ave, Enderley, Hamilton, on Wednesday 23rd November at 1.00pm, followed by a private cremation. Peacefully at McKenzie Healthcare, Geraldine, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease, borne with courage and dignity. Deeply loved, loving husband and best friend of Anne; dearly loved and respected father, step-father and father-in-law of Morgan, Craig, Bruce and Yvonne, Lisa and Jonathan, Tim and Ali, Gerald and Rebekah, and loved Grandad/Gramps of his eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; former husband and friend of Ruth. Also loved and respected friend to Toni and Tracy. Sincere thanks to Dani and the nursing staff at McKenzie Healthcare who cared so closely for Tony. A private family service to be held. BLIEM, Mathilde “Tilli”

Born 1932 in Mauterndorf, Austria. On Monday 14th November 2022, Tilli died peacefully surrounded by family at the Mary Potter Hospice, Newtown. Dearly loved wife of Robert, mother and mother-in-law of Robin and Lorna, Marcus and Maritza, oma to Matthew, Lauren and Josh, Sophia, Isabel, and Christopher, great-grandmother of Alfie and Ray, sister of Werner, Brunhilde (aunt of her son, Raoul) and Ortrude. Dearly loved by Alex and Maria, Nayeli, Ruben, Lucia, and Santiago. A private service was held on the 17th November for close family, followed by a private cremation. We are deeply grateful to all those who helped Tilli in her final months and days. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mary Potter Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

Much loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 53 years, Susan (Sue), his children, Cate and Andy, Hamish and Sarah, Laura and Matt and his grandchildren Eli, Alex, Bella, Sam, Archie and Eliott. O’CONNELL, Deirdre (Dee, Dee-Olade)

(61) Of Wellington, NZ, previously of Meadowbrook, Glanmire, Co Cork. Our beloved wife and mother, adored grandmother, and cherished friend. Died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Te Omanga Hospice on November 18, 2022, after a long and arduous struggle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Steve, children Rebecca and Conal and their partners Jake and Alena, her father Eamon, brothers Sean and Ciaran, sister Brigid and their partners, brother in law Ross, her stepchildren and their partners Cara and Ollie, Tess and Jade, Shaun and Sarah, grandchildren Jayden, Jennifer, Lachlan, Jaxon, Carter, Brooke and Julia, her nieces and nephews, and many, many close friends, relatives and colleagues. We are devastated by her loss and will miss her dearly every day. Deirdre will be at home for an Irish wake from Sunday afternoon, 20th November. Please come and sit with her and us, have a drink, and share stories and memories about her life. Following the wake, her funeral service will be held at Harbour City Funeral Home on Tuesday 22nd November at 10am and will be live-streamed for her family and friends all over the world. Please wear your brightest colours to both events for a celebration of her life. We will also bring her ashes back to Ireland in the coming months and will hold a celebration of her life there too.
