Rangihoua Heritage Park is about 2 hours from Whangārei and includes Marsden Cross. It is unofficially the birthplace of the nation after hosting the first Christian service in 1814, which started the first European settlement. Friday's tsunami warning after an earthquake in the Kermadec Islands had everyone heading for higher ground. While everyone in Whangārei seemed to hear the warnings, there were traffic jams at One Tree Point and out of the CBD. Do you think the evacuation process went well?
