Special education in dire straits
Hi neighbours,
Judith Nel, president of the Special Education Principals' Association (SEPA) and Principal of Parkside School says special education in New Zealand is in trouble.
According to Nel, the sector faces a number of problems, including a lack of trained staff and underfunding.
To address these issues the government will need to drastically increase the number of specialist staff by expanding the national training curriculum.
What do you think? Do you have a loved one with complex needs who has been let down by the education system?
