Indian Cooking Classes

Radhika from Redwood

Hi Neighbours,

Would you like to learn how to cook delicious Indian food in your own kitchen? Indian cuisine is so much more than curry powder and Butter Chicken :)
My cooking classes are a mix of hearty homestyle recipes, curry-house faves, and takes on popular street food from across India's vast and varied cuisine styles. I love sharing my food journey, reflecting my own pan-Indian upbringing, with friends and fellow foodies.
Here in Chch since 2014, I currently am a cook at a boarding school, and mum to four myself :)
Being Indian, food is central to family values of togetherness and caring, and I thoroughly enjoy seeing these values translate into the community too, when people from completely different cultures and backgrounds come together in my classes and share a common joy of creating a new dish, and maybe even make new friends!
What's more, Indian food is super-accomodating when it comes to dietary restrictions or preferences of GF, DF, vegetarian, vegan etc. Ingredients are mostly from scratch, yet very economical, and almost nil in preservatives, yet always BIG on flavour!
My nightclasses for Term 3 at Papanui High School are open for enrolment. Class sizes are limited to keep them informal and relaxed, so sign up soon! Course commences Wed 3 August, weekly for 7 weeks.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
