Restoring landmark homestead turns heads

Jo Haywood Reporter from Homed

Ever felt your reno was never going to end? Spare a thought for the owners of this Fendalton homestead. Spare a thought for the owners of this Fendalton homestead. Restoring their home and gardens after the 2011 earthquakes took six long years, and included rolling the entire house onto the front lawn so new foundations could be laid before rolling it back again.

But the hard work's paid off. The epic project has been recognised in the 2018 Canterbury Architecture Awards, where it won a Heritage Award for its "sensitive alterations" and "seamless transitions from old to new".

Have you tackled a reno project of you own, big or small? We'd love to hear about it.

Regenerate Christchurch have released a the long-awaited plan intended to fix Christchurch City's heart.

The new plan for the city's Cathedral Square will see a mix of green and paved surfaces to create a strong city heart and encourage events. Its execution is intended to be phased, rolled out in stages as building projects around the square were completed.

As suggested in a draft concept released last year, the redesigned square would have three main spaces, each with their own character – a green zone with trees and water southeast of Christ Church Cathedral, a youth-friendly meeting space by the new library, and a large event and meeting space on the western side.

Were you aware of the plans? What do you think about them? Do you like the designs? Is there anything missing?

BEEN VET CHECKED, IT'S A LITTLE BOY NOT NEUTERED AND IS AROUND 5-6 MONTHS OLD. NO MICROCHIP. BECAUSE HE IS A STRAY (AND HAS BEEN FOR AT LEAST A WEEK) AND UNCLAIMED HE WILL BE NEUTERED IN A FEW WEEKS IF HE REMAINS UNCLAIMED SO IF HE STRAYS OFF AGAIN HE WON'T CREATE KITTENS

CURRENTLY BEING WELL CARED FOR BY OUR LOVELY NEIGHBOURS AND IS BEING LOOKED AFTER UNTIL HIS OWNERS CAN BE FOUND. ANY INFORMATION ABOUT KITTY CAN STILL BE MESSAGED TO THIS POST. :0)

One very sweet fluffy cat hanging around crying and very hungry.

We think due to his size he is pretty young.

This little guy (we think it's a he... possibly not neutered) turned up last night crying loudly to get inside. But we have 3 cats and a dog that don't really want him here. We fed him and gave him a few cuddles hoping he might go home. He was very hungry.

He was still here this morning crying even louder and was all wet. So we dried him off and gave him some breakfast. He's quite distressed and isn't making any attempt to leave. We have to keep him outside although he keeps trying to brave our barking dog and beg to come inside. If he continues to hang around we will take him to the vet to get him chip checked. But being possibly not neutered (not 100% sure) I don't have much hope he is chipped either.

Currently hiding in our tree house or under the shed out the back.
VANCOUVER CRES/WAINONI AREA

So friendly and purry, someone must be missing him. He smells like perfume or recently washed
