About 120 volunteers pitch in to clean up seaside suburb
Just over 100 people rolled up their sleeves and grabbed the tools for a mass cleanup of one of Christchurch’s seaside suburbs.
Coastal ward community board member and lifelong New Brighton resident Jo Zervos said she was “very grateful” for the 120 odd volunteers from numerous community groups and businesses who showed up for the cleanup she helped organise on Sunday.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
