Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel says she would not have championed selling council land to the Ministry of Education had she known it would "exclude" families from two local high schools.

Echoing public opposition against proposed enrolment zone changes, Dalziel said in-zone suburbs – Shirley, Avonside, Dallington, Edgeware and Richmond – should not be excluded when Avonside Girls' and Shirley Boys' high schools relocate to a new, shared campus on the QEII Park site in 2019.

Hello everyone
With the demolition of the stands at Lancaster Park there has been a noticeable or not-so-noticeable activity going on.That lovely green fence put up around the park doesn't actually keep people out, it just provides cover for those getting into the park as they cannot be seen from the road. So if you are in Lismore St during the weekend you may see the culprits cars parked along the wire fence. Perhaps getting a rego number would be a good idea and pass it to the Council
