Overloading Power Plugs
As we are heading into winter, our power plugs are often getting a good workout as they juggle the power supply to heaters, tvs, laptops, hair dryers and the like!
Many older style homes have only one or two power sockets in a room, so it can be tempting to use a power board on each of these power sockets, to ensure more appliances can be used at once. This is fine provided you are not using too many appliances with a high voltage such a brand new TVs and heaters.
We recommend balancing the number of appliances you are using in one socket at a time to avoid overloading. Turn off of unplug the appliances you are not using and only ensure one high voltage appliance is plugged in per plug socket.
If you are finding that you are blowing a fuse or overloading your plug sockets, we do recommend having more power sockets installed in the house.
