Noticed anything different?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

It's te wiki o te reo Māori, and to celebrate this awesome initiative, we've given our logo a little update.

'Haporitanga' means 'the many principles and actions of being a community' and we think it's a great way to express what Neighbourly is.

Are you keen to dive straight into te wiki? Here's a video by our mates at Stuff showing five te reo words that every person from across the motu (country) needs to know.

New Zealanders are locking down their cats, for good

The Team Reporter from The Press

New Zealand is a nation of cat lovers, and increasingly – at least anecdotally – we’re keeping them inside.

Owners say welfare and conservation concerns are the main drivers; experts are cautious not to say too much, and cats are silent on the issue thus far.

What's worse — keeping a cat indoors 24/7, or letting it roam free where it will hunt birds, and possibly be injured?

Happy National Gardening Week! 👩‍🌾🍅

The Team from Neighbourhood Support New Zealand

This year Kiwis are being encouraged to grow-an-extra-row to share with neighbours, community pantries, food banks and other local food donation agencies.

Backyard and communal edible gardens not only provide healthy, sustainable and tasty kai, they also create greater food resiliency within our hapori.

Stolen mobility scooter

Niki from Linwood

Hi neighbours. Overnight someone jemmied open the side window of my wee van and stole my portable mobility scooter. As you can imagine l am incredibly distressed at losing my transport. The battery was inside charging so It will be of no use to them and l imagine they may dump it so l'd be really grateful if everyone could keep an eye out or if they could let me know if they see it for sale. I live on Gloucester street near Woodham road and the van was parked outside my house. It's an older white Toyota hiace so
I'd also be grateful if anyone who saw anything unusual last night could let me know. Many thanks. I have added a photo of the scooter although the pedals on mine are slightly different.
Have also posted this on the crime page.
